Today, Sergeant Whitecotton, Officer Hegland, and Officer Dwyer had the opportunity to attend the America 250 event at the Sandwich Gazebo, where community members gathered for a public reading of the Declaration of Independence.

As we listened to the words that helped shape our nation’s founding, we were reminded of the freedoms we are privileged to enjoy and protect each day.

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve the residents and visitors of Sandwich under the enduring principles of liberty that define the United States of America. 🇺🇸

🇺🇸 A Friendly 4th of July Reminder from the Sandwich Police Department 🇺🇸

Independence Day is a time to celebrate our nation’s freedom with family, friends, and community. We understand that fireworks have become a tradition many people look forward to each year.

As a reminder, under Illinois law, most consumer fireworks are prohibited. These laws are in place to help protect our neighborhoods, first responders, pets, veterans, and anyone who may be sensitive to loud explosions.

We kindly ask everyone to celebrate responsibly by attending a professional fireworks display and helping us keep Sandwich safe for everyone.
