Independence Day is a time to celebrate our nation’s freedom with family, friends, and community. We understand that fireworks have become a tradition many people look forward to each year.
As a reminder, under Illinois law, most consumer fireworks are prohibited. These laws are in place to help protect our neighborhoods, first responders, pets, veterans, and anyone who may be sensitive to loud explosions.
We kindly ask everyone to celebrate responsibly by attending a professional fireworks display and helping us keep Sandwich safe for everyone.

We personally want to thank our volunteers: our Emergency Management Agency personnel and our very own Police Explorers of Post 1251. Our explorers got to experience the stress of dealing with pedestrians + heavy traffic + impatient drivers. But it was all worth it because they had candy thrown at them, which helped numb the pain. In all seriousness, thanks to every one of you that helped make today fun and safe for the community!!
