Suns out, guns out this week on American Chair Volleyball Gladiators 💪🔥

Gladiator Al “Ironclad” and Gladiator Linda “The Hammer” showed up BIG for Team Fox Valley and brought the heat. The competition was fierce, the muscles were flexed, and everyone came ready to battle.

At this point, we might need to start testing for PEDs… because this crew is getting extra yoked 👀

Only the strong survive on American Chair Volleyball Gladiators 🏐🔥

📞 National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week 📞

This week, we proudly recognize and celebrate the voices behind the badge, our public safety telecommunicators.

We appreciate all telecommunicators and the critical role they play in public safety, especially the telecommunicators at the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office who provide dispatch services for our officers. Your professionalism, dedication, and ability to stay calm under pressure do not go unnoticed.

These dedicated professionals are the first point of contact in emergencies. They answer the calls no one else wants to make, gather critical information, and ensure that help is sent quickly and safely. Whether it is a routine call or a life threatening situation, they remain calm, focused, and ready to act.

While you may never see them on a call, their impact is felt in every response we make. They are truly the unseen heroes of public safety.

Please join us in thanking our telecommunicators for their hard work, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to keeping our community safe.

👏 Thank you for everything you do!

April is Autism Awareness Month—a time to recognize, support, and better understand individuals and families in our community affected by autism. As a police department, we are committed to fostering awareness, compassion, and safe interactions for everyone we serve. We encourage our community to take a moment to learn more about autism spectrum disorder and show kindness in everyday interactions. Together, we can build a more understanding community for all.

🚨 Electric Scooter Reminder

Great Scott, Sandwich… this is your reminder to be safe and follow the rules when you are riding your hoverboard or electric scooter.

While Marty McFly may have made it look easy, Illinois law is a little less futuristic. The Sandwich Police Department would like to remind residents of the laws regarding electric scooter use:

🛴 You must be at least 18 years old to operate an electric scooter on public roadways.
🛴 Electric scooters are only allowed on roadways with speed limits of 35 mph or less, unless otherwise restricted.
🛴 Sidewalk use may be restricted based on local ordinances.
🛴 Operators must follow all traffic laws and operate scooters safely.

We have recently received complaints of juveniles operating electric scooters throughout the community. For safety reasons and in accordance with state law, this is not permitted.

⚠️ Officers will be monitoring and addressing violations as needed.

Parents, now is a good time to have a quick conversation with your future time travelers about the rules. We want everyone getting to their destination safely without creating a disturbance in the space time continuum.

If you have any questions, please contact the Sandwich Police Department.

Officer Hegland and Sergeant Whitecotton stopped by the Fox Valley Community Services Community Care Fair. Sergeant Whitecotton spoke about the most common scams targeting the senior community, and they also handed out informational flyers.

Remember to slow down and never send money under pressure or give out personal information. Talk to someone you trust, or stop by the department and ask us for help!
