Well, unfortunately, the 2026 Sandwich Fair is drawing to a close!
We had a great time connecting with so many familiar faces and meeting plenty of new ones throughout the week. We are incredibly proud to have such a great, long running tradition right here in our amazing city.
A huge thank you to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office for everything they do to help keep the fair safe and enjoyable each year. We would also like to thank the Sandwich Fire Department, Sandwich EMA, and of course, all of the wonderful people who work so hard to make the Sandwich Fair possible.
It is truly an honor to serve such a wonderful community and so many great people. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, said hello, and helped make the 2026 Sandwich Fair another great one!

Today, September 12th, is National Police Woman Day, and we could not think of a better opportunity to recognize Officer Devin Vaughn, the Sandwich Police Department’s one and only female police officer!
Officer Vaughn recently graduated from the police academy and is currently working through her field training. While she may be new to the profession, she has already made a great impression on our department and the community.
Officer Vaughn comes to work every day eager to learn, motivated, and ready to work. She has embraced every challenge thrown her way and continues to improve with each shift. Her enthusiasm for the job, willingness to learn, and genuine desire to serve the community have not gone unnoticed.
Starting a career in law enforcement is no easy task, but Officer Vaughn has hit the ground running and has been doing an outstanding job.

Today, members of the Sandwich Police Department joined our community in remembrance of September 11, 2001.
Chief Senne delivered remarks during a somber ceremony honoring the innocent citizens and first responders who lost their lives that day. We also remember the service members who answered the call in the years that followed, especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice and never returned home.
Twenty five years later, we remember the lives lost, the bravery shown, and the unity our nation displayed in the face of unimaginable tragedy.
May we never forget their sacrifice, their courage, and the families who continue to carry their memory.
